“Cleanliness helps a person to become better. The next generation will build a clean Bangladesh that will honor the country as a whole,” he said.
He was addressing as the chief guest a ceremony arranged at the Residential Model School and College in the capital marking Global Handwashing Day 2019.
“We are all looking forward to the next generation...the mistakes done by us should not be repeated by them,” said the minister.
The LGRD minister said that cleanliness helps the person to improve.
World Hand Washing Day is being celebrated in Bangladesh as in other countries of the world to ensure safe water and improved sanitation for all.
Speakers at the event said that Bangladesh's significant achievement in the sanitation system has become an example for developing countries.
This year, the theme of Global Handwashing Day is ‘Clean Hands for All’.
Currently, the rate of improved sanitation in Bangladesh is around 71 percent.
State Minister for LGRD ministry, Swapan Bhattacharya was the special guest at the programme presided over by Local Government Division Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed. Representative of UNICEF Bangladesh, Tomo Huzmi was also present at the event.
