NHF President Prof Abdul Malik said, “Health journalists should actively work for preventing Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Bangladesh,” said a press release.
He also highlighted that the frequent news publication on NCDs will subsequently help the policymakers take better decisions in combating them.
“It is important to publish news regularly to increase public awareness about various risks of NCDs and to influence policy makers to adopt public health policies to prevent NCDs,” said Prof Malik.
NHF Hospital and Research Institute Head of the Epidemiology, Dr Sohel Reza Chowdhury highlighted the recent situation of NCDs in Bangladesh while Dr Md Khalequzzaman, Associate Professor of Public Health and Informatics at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University shed light on what could be more newsworthy on the prevention of NCDs.
Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum President Taufiq Maruf was present as special guest on the occasion alongside 22 journalists from different media.
