A 20-year-old youth was killed and 12 others were injured on Monday afternoon during a violent clash in Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila, following protests against the harassment of female madrasa students.
The deceased was identified as Sani Bepari, son of Atiar Bepari of Koidubi Sadardi village in Bhanga Municipality.

According to locals, the conflict was sparked by the persistent harassment of students from the Hazrat Fatematuz Zahra (RA) Mohila Madrasa by a local youth, Jihad Matubbar .
The situation escalated Monday morning when Mufti Monir Bepari, the Mohtamim (principal) of the madrasa, protested Jihad’s behavior. This led to a fierce hour-long confrontation between the groups of Mufti Monir Bepari and Bashar Matubbar, during which both sides used local weapons. Sani Bepari sustained critical injuries and passed away while being transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Among the 12 injured, three were shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhanga Police Station, said that the situation is currently under police control.
He added that the body has been sent for an autopsy and legal action will be taken following a thorough investigation .
