Three accused on Sunday gave confessional statements under Section 164 before a Cumilla court in connection with the murder of 13-year-old Ishiat Shahriar Opratim.
Senior Judicial Magistrate of Cumilla Judicial Magistrate Court-6 Abida Sultana Moli recorded their statements around 8:30pm, said Court Inspector Sadekur Rahman.
In their statements, the three accused confessed to beating Opratim to death with a bamboo stick, the court inspector said.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) police produced the three accused before the court around 8pm.
The accused were identified as Saiful Islam Tuhin, Mozammel Hossain Fahad and Md Kamrul Hasan.
After recording their confessional statements, the court sent four accused, including Md Siam, 19, to jail.
Opratim was the only son of Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor of the Bangla Department at Comilla University, and businessman KM Firoz Shahriar. He was a Class VII student at Border Guard Public School.
His body was recovered from the Kotbari-Gandhamati area of Cumilla city on Saturday, around 22 hours after he went missing.
