Outgoing Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat paid a farewell call on President Mohammad Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday.
President's Press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB that the outgoing air chief briefed the president on the steps undertaken during his tenure in the development of the Bangladesh Air Force.
He expressed his gratitude to the president for the overall cooperation and guidance he received during his tenure.
President Hamid thanked the outgoing Chief of Air Staff for successful discharge of his duty.
The president said the present government is taking and implementing various programs to modernize the Air Force under the Forces Goal-2030.
He hoped that Bangladesh Air Force will become a modern and advanced force in the future through implementation of projects.
He appreciated the various activities of the Armed Forces, including the Air Force, in dealing with the Corona.
The president expressed hope that the Air Force would continue to come forward to meet the needs of the country.
Air Vice Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan has been appointed as the chief of Bangladesh Air Force for the next three years while the appointment will come into effect from June 12, according to a press statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Sheikh Abdul Hannan was appointed as the new chief of the air force upon his promotion to the rank of Air Marshal, the notification further added.
Secretary to the President's Office Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and Secretary (attached) Wahidul Islam Khan were also present on the occasion.
