More than 15 lakh people have registered to vote through the postal balloting in the upcoming national election and referendum.
“A total of 15,33,683 voters completed the registration process (with Postal Vote BD app) to vote through the postal ballots,” said Director (Public Relations) of the Election Commission Secretariat Ruhul Amin Mollik on Tuesday.
The deadline for the postal vote registration expired at 12 am on Monday.
Among the registrants, a total of 761,140 voters are from Bangladesh as the government staff posted outside their respective constituencies, the polling personnel and the prisoners are allowed to vote through the postal ballots this year.
Among expatriate voters, the highest number- 2,39,186-are from Saudi Arabia.
Besides, 84,292 are from Malaysia, 76,139 from Qatar, 56,207 from Oman, 38,574 from the United Arab Emirates, 35,386 from Kuwait, 32,414 from the United Kingdom, 31,064 from the United States, 24,444 from Italy, 19,719 from Bahrain, 18,129 from Singapore, 14,681 from Canada, 11,702 from South Korea, and 11,158 from Australia.
