The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) on Tuesday approved a financing target of Tk 160 billion for the 2026-27 fiscal year, marking a 45.34 percent increase from the outgoing fiscal year, with a strong focus on skills development, employment generation and sustainable economic growth for low-income people.
The budget and annual work plan were approved at a meeting of PKSF’s General Body held at the PKSF Bhaban-1 in Agargaon, according to a press release.
The meeting also provided necessary directives for the effective utilisation of the Bangladesh Bank incentive fund allocated for the development of the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) sector.
The initiative is expected to facilitate the disbursement of an additional Tk 50 billion in financing.
Participants at the meeting stressed the importance of promoting microenterprise development, enhancing skills and creating productive employment opportunities across the country.
PKSF said it will strengthen sustainable employment and entrepreneurship through blended financing approaches that combine skills development, innovation, debt finance and equity finance, alongside its conventional financing programmes.
Special emphasis will be placed on supporting the creative economy and climate adaptation initiatives, reflecting the organisation’s broader commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
In the upcoming fiscal year, PKSF will focus not only on providing financial support but also on developing skilled human resources and generating sustainable employment opportunities. Particular attention will be given to expanding skills training, entrepreneurship development and market linkage initiatives for youth, women and marginalised communities.
The organisation also plans to strengthen research activities related to poverty reduction, skills development and employment generation. These efforts are expected to contribute significantly to increasing productive employment and creating a more enabling environment for entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, a meeting of the PKSF Governing Body was held. Both meetings were chaired by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan.
PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader and Board Members Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Nurun Nahar, Farzanah Chowdhury and Prof Dr Md Taufiqul Islam attended the meetings.
Members of the General Body, in addition to the Governing Body members, were also present at the General Body meeting.
