Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday assured unwavering support for those affected by the July movement, as he met the injured and family members of those killed in the uprising in an emotional interaction at Parliament.
“The current government will always stand beside the July fighters,” he said, his voice reflecting the gravity of the moment.
The Prime Minister went to the visitors’ gallery of the Jatiya Sangsad, where around 60 people associated with the July movement were present, said his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.
They included 26 family members of those who were killed, while others were injured during the movement. Many of them are still undergoing treatment.
The meeting took place at the Meghna Hall Gallery of the Parliament complex in the evening, during a short break in the session.
Breaking away from formalities, the Prime Minister walked up to them and spoke to each person individually.
He listened to their experiences, asked about their condition and treatment, and offered words of comfort.
