Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has fulfilled the wish of Bangladesh's gold medal-winning team at the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in AI by arranging for them to watch the proceedings of Parliament from the VVIP gallery on Tuesday.
The special visit was arranged following a request made by the students during a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister on Sunday, when they expressed their desire to observe a parliamentary session in person.
Apart from watching the proceedings, the delegation also toured the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The delegation included Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad Coach Dr Mohammad Azam Khan, Academic Coordinator and Mentor Tasnim Mahfuz Nafis, gold medallist Tridib Roy Arjo, and team members Naira Nawar Ahmed, Ananya Jarif Akand, Nawfil Rahman, Mubtasim Chowdhury Piyom and Murtaza Abdullah. Their family members also joined them during the visit.
During Sunday's meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman congratulated the students on bringing international recognition to Bangladesh through their outstanding achievement in the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in AI.
He also inquired after their innovative projects, academic pursuits, research activities and future plans, and encouraged them to continue pursuing innovation and excellence.
When the students expressed their interest in watching a live session of Parliament, the Prime Minister immediately instructed the authorities concerned to arrange their visit to the VVIP gallery.
Following his directive, the students were given the opportunity to witness the parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday.
