Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock at the death of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, the founder of Brac.
Sir Abed, who was undergoing treatment for brain tumour at Apollo Hospital, breathed his last at 8:28pm at the age of 83.
In a condolence message, Sheikh Hasina said Fazle Hasan Abed had played an important role in creating mass opinion in favour of Bangladesh’s Liberation War and raised funds from different European countries, including the United Kingdom in 1971.
The Prime Minister said the country suffered an irreparable loss at Fazle Hasan Abed’s death.
She prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep sorrow to his bereaved family members.
In a separate message, President Abdul Hamid condoled the death of Fazle Hasan Abed and expressed deep sympathy for his bereaved family members.
