After placing the wreath, the Prime Minister stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bappy.
Later, Sheikh Hasina, also the AL President, flanked by her party’s senior leaders laid another wreath on the coffin of the former AL MP on behalf of the party.
On behalf of President M Abdul Hamid, his military secretary earlier placed a wreath on Bappy’s coffin.
Besides, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mian placed wreaths on her coffin.
On behalf of Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Raushan Ershad, Jatiya Party MP Fakhrul Imam laid a wreath on the coffin.
Earlier, a namaz-e-janaza of Bappy was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Ministers, the deputy speaker, parliament members and leaders of different political parties attended the janaza.
A munajat was offered on the occasion, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.
Fazilatun Nasa Bappy, a former Awami League MP from a reserved seat, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 49.
Bappy was undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). She had been at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital since December 30.
The former MP breathed her last around 8:30am at the hospital.
