Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday evening visited the “Nazrul Fair” held on the Nazrul Academy premises in Trishal on the occasion of the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
“The Prime Minister visited the Nazrul Mela after inaugurating the three-day national programme marking the birth anniversary of the National Poet. He toured different stalls at the fair,” said Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.
He said the Prime Minister also visited a special photo exhibition titled “Drohher Kobi, Praner Kobi” showcasing the life and works of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the three-day programme was arranged at Trishal, a place closely associated with the poet’s childhood memories.
The Deputy Press Secretary further said the Prime Minister declared the period from May 23, 2026 to May 23, 2027 as “Nazrul Year” after attending a cultural programme dedicated to the poet.
Later, thePrime Minister also exchanged views with leaders of Mymensingh city, north and south BNP units before returning to Dhaka.
