Members of the Bangladesh Police have started wearing the force’s new uniform, featuring dark blue shirts with khaki trousers and light olive shirts with khaki trousers, from Wednesday.
The new attire was seen on a limited scale at Police Headquarters, metropolitan police units and district-level police formations, where officers and personnel began performing their duties in the redesigned uniforms.
The new uniforms were visible during the inauguration of the newly built Borkaou Police Camp in the Purbachal New Town Project on Wednesday morning.
At the event, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir was seen wearing a dark blue shirt, while Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed wore a light olive shirt. Both officials were dressed in khaki trousers.
A senior official at Police Headquarters, speaking to UNB on condition of anonymity, said police personnel officially began wearing the new uniforms on Wednesday, although distribution has not yet been completed across the force.
“All members have not received the new uniforms yet. They will be provided in phases. Those who have already received them have started performing their duties in the new attire,” the official said.
According to the new dress code, police personnel serving in district-level units will wear dark blue shirts with khaki trousers, while members serving in metropolitan areas will wear light olive shirts paired with khaki trousers.
Police sources said the new uniforms will be distributed gradually to all units across the country. Once the distribution process is completed, all members of the force will perform their duties in the new attire.
