“A decision has been taken to modify the primary-level curricula to introduce new education activities at primary schools,” she said replying to a starred question from Awami League MP Mohammad Shahiduzzaman (Meherpur-2).
The Prime Minister said the curricula from pre-primary level to Class-V will be revised within 2019-20 and textbooks to be printed in line with the new curricula will be given to students next year.
She also mentioned different measures taken to make teachers of government educational institutions attentive to teaching in classrooms.
Hasina said the government has a plan to arrange seven-day foreign trips or overseas training for 7,000 primary school teachers, including the best ones, at national, divisional, district and upazila levels.
In reply to a supplementary question from treasury bench MP Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul (Chapainawabganj-1), the Prime Minister said the government has a goal to establish a digital university in every division by phases.
She said the government has already established a digital university -- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Gazipur.
Replying to a starred question, Hasina placed the names of 97 heads of the state and government, important world leaders and organisations who have so far greeted her for being reelected Prime Minister following her party’s landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30 last.
Jatiya Party MP Fakhrul Imam raised the question on behalf of JaPa MP Rustum Ali Faraji (Pirojpur-3) in his absence.
In reply to another starred question from AL MP Mamunur Rashid Kiron (Noakhali-3), the Prime Minister said the government will take legal measures against those who will destroy the peace and order, and the country’s image through communal propaganda. “If there’s any attempt to spoil the existing communal harmony, the government will curb it with an iron hand,” she added.
Responding to a starred question from AL MP Aslam Hossain Saudagar (Kurigram-1), she said the process to conduct feasibility studies is underway to construct subways or underground metros to ease unbearable traffic congestions in capital Dhaka.
She said the feasibility study has already completed over the construction of 39.24-km elevated expressway from Baliapur of Savar to Nangalbandha of Narayanganj via Nimtali, Keraniganj, Fatullah and Bandar.
Besides, she mentioned that a project proposal is pending with the Planning Commission for conducting a feasibility study for constructing a tunnel the under Jamuna River with the government’s own finance.
Hasina also mentioned other ongoing activities to ease the nagging traffic congestion in the country.
