A five-member probe committee has been formed over the fire that tore through an apartment block in the capital's Gulshan area Sunday evening, leaving one dead.
Lt Col Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, director (operations and maintenance) of Fire Service and Civil Defence is head of the committee, Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General Brig Gen Md Moin Uddin told UNB on Monday.
. Other members of the committee include the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters' deputy director (operations and maintenance), assistant director, deputy assistant director of Gulshan Zone, and officer-in-charge of the local fire station.
A man was killed after the deadly fire engulfed the 12- storeyed building. Also, 22 people – nine men, 12 women, and one child –were rescued.

Later, the army and air force also joined the rescue operation and the fire was brought under control after four hours.
