Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia has appointed Prof Dr AKM Motinur Rahman of the Department of Public Administration as its new Vice-Chancellor.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday, signed by Assistant Secretary Sultan Ahmed.
According to the notification, the appointment was made under Section 10(1) of the Islamic University Act, 1980, with the approval of the President, who is also the Chancellor of the university.
As per the terms of the appointment, Prof Motinur Rahman will serve as Vice-Chancellor for a four-year term from the date of joining.
During his tenure, he will receive salary, allowances and other benefits equivalent to those of his current position. He will also reside on the campus full-time as the chief executive officer of the university.
The notification said the President and Chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if necessary.
Prof Motinur Rahman previously served in different academic and administrative roles at the university and is regarded by students and colleagues as an experienced academic.
