A group of protesters blocked Dhaka-Barishal highway on Friday night demanding ban on the Awami League.
A protest march under the banner of Chhatra-Janata was taken out from in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city at around 8:45 pm on Friday.
Later, they took up positions on the Dhaka-Barishal highway at Nathullabad near Barishal Central Bus Terminal.
As a result, traffic movement on the Dhaka-Barisal highway was disrupted for 2.5 hours from 8:45 pm.
During the protest, the speakers said that Awami League politics should be banned in this country for genocide during the July Uprising.
Besides, they demanded capital punishment those involved in the genocide and must be tried as soon as possible.
They further added that AL leaders and activists are still trying to create an unstable environment in the country.
