He came up with the remark when leaders of Shipping and Communication Reporters Forum (SCRF) met him at the Secretariat.
The State Minister for Shipping said Dredging division under BIWTA is fully free to import new dredgers.
Approval for purchasing 35 new dredgers has already been given earlier. Officials of the department concerned have the responsibility to examine the quality of the dredgers after import and hoped that they (officials) would do it, he said.
Commenting on the continuation of the river excavation, the Minister said the excavation of Brahmaputra River has already begun under the four rivers digging project, while dredging of the Dharla, Tulai and Punarbhaba rivers will also begin soon.
In case of dredging, more importance is being given to the Shimulia-Kanthalbari route as it is a very important one, he added.
About allegation of unethical financial transactions for giving approval of ship design under the Department of shipping, Khalid said everything was brought under discipline removing all irregularities gradually and transparency, accountability will be ensured in all sectors.
Among others, SCRF president Asish Kumar Dey, general secretary Rafiqul Islam Sabuj, vice president Amresh Ray, former SCRF president Anisur Rahman Khan and former DRU secretary Shukkur Ali Shovo were present.
