In response to recent attacks, killings, and with the demand for a violence-free campus, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement has announced a "Complete Shutdown" across the country for tomorrow, July 18.
The movement’s coordinator, Hasnat Abdullah, said that no institutions, except hospitals and emergency services, should open their doors. Furthermore, no vehicles will be permitted on the roads, with the exception of ambulances, he added.
"We urge students from every school, college, university, private university, and madrasa across the country to make tomorrow's program successful," Abdullah emphasized.
Addressing parents, Abdullah said, "We are your children. Stand by us, protect us. This fight is not just for students; it is for the general people of this country, regardless of party affiliation."
The protest follows a series of clashes that saw at least six people (mostly students) killed yesterday.
