The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has taken extensive security measures across the country in anticipation of Genocide Day and Independence and National Day.
As part of the extensive security arrangments, adequate Rab members have already been deployed across Dhaka and the rest of the country to prevent any kind of disorder and unwanted situations during the observence of Genocide Day and Independence and National Day-2026. On March-25 and 26 respectively.
Besides, intelligence surveillance has been increased, including plainclothes monitoring, to strengthen overall security as part of advance measures,
Security arrangements have been reinforced, along with intelligence surveillance, at parades, displays, discussion meetings, screenings of Liberation War-based films, and fairs to be held in Dhaka metropolitan area, other metropolitan areas, divisional cities, and districts, according to a message sent from the rab headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
RAB said it remains vigilant to ensure that members of banned organisations and other criminals cannot create any type of disorder centring the two days. Besides, Rab's cyber monitoring team is maintaining round-the-clock surveillance online to prevent the spread of rumours, provocative content, and misinformation.
Based on intelligence inputs, security has been tightened at locations likely to have public gatherings, including areas involving VVIPs, VIPs, and members of foreign diplomatic missions.
Temporary checkpoints have been set up at entry and exit points of cities and other important locations, with search operations underway to ensure security.
Special importance has been given to security at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar and the National Parade Square, where RAB’s bomb disposal unit and dog squad will conduct necessary sweeping operations.
All RAB battalions will coordinate with local representatives, law enforcement agencies, and administration through their respective control rooms to ensure security in their jurisdictions. The RAB headquerter control room will monitor and coordinate security arrangements across the country, including Dhaka.
RAB has sought cooperation from all to maintain overall law and order during the observance of the two days. It also urged the public to inform the nearest RAB patrol in-charge or the concerned battalion commander in case of any untoward incident.
