A festive mood has been prevailing among Awami League and its front and associate bodies' leaders and activists, as well as the general public over the prime minister’s visit to Rangpur district for electioneering.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a bride of Pirganj and it is the father land of Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy. The Prime Minister is scheduled to come here and a festive mood has been prevailing there over PM’s visit there,” said Awami League Organizing Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi while talking to reporters after visiting the Pirganj Government High School ground on Monday.

There will be a historic rally and huge public gathering tomorrow, he said.
As part of her election campaigning, the Awami League President will address two public rallies in Pirganj and Taraganj upazilas of Rangpur district, Prof Majed Ali Babul, joint convener of the district AL unit confirmed on Sunday morning.
She will address an election rally at the college field in Taraganj upazila to support AL candidate Abul Kalam Md Ahsanul Haque from Rangpur-2 (Taraganj-Badarganj), he said.
Later, the AL chief will join another election rally in Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency arranged for the campaign of AL candidate Shirin Sharmin Choudhury, also speaker of Jatiya Sangsad.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina kicked off her election campaign on December 20 through visits to the mazars of saints Shahjalal and Shah Paran in Sylhet.
Regarding the preparation of the rallies, Professor Majed said, Rangpur district Awami League is always ready to receive PM Hasina and arrange any type of rally.

“We will complete all preparations in the meantime and we are expecting huge participation of the people in the Prime Minister's election rallies,” he added.
On August 2 this year, the Prime Minister attended the public rally of Awami League organized at Rangpur Zilla School ground but she did not go to her father-in-law's house in Pirganj.
