Chattogram district, the second most hard-hit region by Coronavirus after Dhaka, reported a record-high 662 cases in the past 24 hours, while 9 more people died.
The new cases were detected after testing 1,890 samples, according to the report provided by the district’s Civil Surgeon office, Tuesday morning.
With the new numbers, the district’s death toll reached 731 on Tuesday, while the caseload climbed to 61,589.

Civil Surgeon, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, “The scenario forewarns a worsening Covid-19 situation for Chattogram district if we don’t deem it as concerning now.”
Of the deceased, two were from the municipal area and seven were from upazilas.
Besides, of the fresh cases 449 are from the municipal area and 213 are from upazilas.

According to the Civil Surgeon Office, in eleven labs of Chattogram and one Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital Lab the samples were sent for testing Monday.
Of the newly Covid infected, 41 were from Sitakundu,38 from Mirsarai, 32 from Fatikchari, 21 from Hathazari, 20 from Rauzan, 13 from Rangunia, 10 each from lohagara and Boalkhali, nine from Banshkhali, eight from Patiya, six from Anwara and two each were from Chandanaish and Shandwip upazilas.
