Visa Regional President for Asia Pacific Stephen Karpin will visit Bangladesh from Monday to Wednesday to discuss ways to accelerate digital commerce and strengthen the country’s digital payments ecosystem.

During his three-day visit, Karpin will meet leaders from the government, financial institutions, fintech companies, merchants and other stakeholders in the payments ecosystem, Visa said in a statement on Monday.

He will be accompanied by Suresh Sethi, Group Country Manager for India and South Asia at Visa.

The meetings are expected to focus on opportunities to expand digital commerce, enhance payment security and support the next phase of Bangladesh’s digital transformation.

As Regional President for Asia Pacific, Karpin oversees Visa’s business across the region, including its long-term growth strategy, client partnerships and innovation in digital payments, cross-border commerce, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Visa said Bangladesh is rapidly advancing its digital payments landscape, driven by growing adoption of digital financial services, expansion of e-commerce and continued investment in financial infrastructure.

As consumers and businesses increasingly adopt digital payment and transaction methods, Bangladesh is emerging as one of the region’s dynamic growth markets, the company said.

Karpin’s visit reflects Visa’s continued commitment to Bangladesh and its efforts to support consumers, businesses and the wider economy through secure payment technology and partnerships across the financial ecosystem.
