Renowned singer, producer and popular television programme host Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel passed away in Dhaka on Tuesday morning. He was 56.
Jewel, who had been battling cancer for many years, breathed his last around 11:53 am while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital, said lyricist Asif Iqbal.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Gulshan Azad mosque after Asar prayers, said Zulfiqer Russell, lyricist and Editor of Bangla Tribune.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Jewel, who came up with a number of hit songs with his melodious voice, had been battling cancer since 2011.
It was initially diagnosed in his liver before it spread to his lungs and he received treatment in various hospitals at home and abroad.
On July 23, he was admitted to United Hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator.
Jewel began his musical career in the 1990s and his first album, "Kuasha Prohor", was released in 1993.
