Munshiganj, Oct 9 (UNB) - Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kathalbari route resumed on Wednesday morning after a 10-hour suspension due to strong current in the Padma River.
Nasir Ahmed Chowdhury, general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia ferry terminal, said the services resumed at 6am.
“Strong current in the river forced us to suspend the services at 8pm on Tuesday,” he said.
Three ferries out of 16 are now in operation. They are carrying both vehicles and passengers at the moment, he said.
A number of goods-laden trucks were seen stranded on both sides of the route.
