Munshiganj, Sept 22 (UNB) – The ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route resumed on Sunday after eight hours of suspension due to poor navigability.
BIWTA Assistant General Manager Nasir Uddin Chowdhury said the services were restored around 11am. Eight ferries out of 16 are now plying on the route.
Earlier, the ferry services remained suspended from 3am due to poor navigability.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended the services as it became difficult to operate ferries on the route, said Nasir Uddin.
Mawa Zonal Traffic Inspector Helal Uddin said traffic congestion increased following the abrupt suspension of ferry services.
