Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain came under public scrutiny in Parliament on Tuesday after Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad interrupted proceedings to draw his attention to a question being raised by a lawmaker, highlighting what appeared to be the minister's lack of attention in the House.
The incident occurred during the call attention notice on the issues of public importance when Bilkis Islam, an BNP MP from the reserved women's seat-7, sought the Health Minister's attention over the reconstruction of the boundary wall and the overall development of a hospital in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari district.

As the MP was presenting her notice, the Speaker noticed that the minister was not paying attention to the proceedings and immediately intervened.
Addressing the Health Minister directly, the Speaker said: "Honourable Health Minister, Honourable Health Minister... So busy… She is addressing you. Please listen to the Honourable Member."
The Speaker's rare public intervention briefly interrupted the proceedings and underscored the expectation that ministers remain attentive while members raise constituency-specific issues on the floor of Parliament.
Bilkis Islam was attempting to highlight the need for the reconstruction of the hospital's boundary wall and broader infrastructural improvements, urging the Health Ministry to take necessary steps for upgrading the healthcare facility.
The Speaker's remarks drew the attention of lawmakers present in the House, as he reminded the minister of his responsibility to listen to elected representatives raising public concerns.
Such interventions by the Chair are relatively uncommon and serve as a reminder of parliamentary decorum, particularly during the question-and-answer session when ministers are expected to respond to issues raised by MPs on behalf of their constituents.
