Sylhet, Feb 23 (UNB) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin on Saturday warned the owners of stone quarries to stop using payloader machine.
Minister made the remarks at a view exchange meeting after visiting Wildlife Conservation Centre at Tilaghor in the city.
He said that the government will do whatever needed to combat illegal hill cutting, stone and sand lifting.
“The ecological balance of Sylhet is relatively good. The government will formulate new legislation to stop illegal brick kilns,” he said.
The minister also urged the country people to plant more trees in order to maintain ecological balance.
Sylhet Divisional Forest Officer RSM Monirul Islam presided over the programme while acting director of the Department of Environment Altaf Hossain coordinated it.
