A Sylhet court on Sunday placed Babul Mia, the prime suspect in the killing of a female domestic help and an elderly couple in Sylhet city, on a four-day remand.
Sylhet Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Farhana Sultana passed the order when police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer in the case.
On August 12, police recovered the bodies of an elderly couple and their domestic help with their throats slit from a flat of their four-storey building in the Mitali Residential Area of Raynagar.
The deceased were identified as MA Sattar, 82, his wife Suraiya Begum, 72, and their domestic help Tahmina, 25.
Babul was arrested from a colony in the Rajbari area of Raynagar on the same day.
Later, the couple’s daughter filed a case in this regard.
During primary interrogation, Babul admitted that he entered the building – Nikunja Villa – owned by Sattar and got into an altercation with Tahmina over their relationship. At one stage, he killed her.
As the couple came to the scene after hearing Tahmina’s screams, Babul allegedly killed them as well.
