A three-day art exhibition titled ‘Art for Equality’ began at the University of Dhaka on Wednesday, showcasing 90 artworks by teachers, students and renowned artists from nine universities.

Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest while Dr Shake Manir Uddin, Curator of the exhibition and Chairman of the Department of Art History presided over the event.

The exhibition was organised under the supervision of the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka.

The exhibition features 90 artworks created by faculties, students, young and renowned artists representing nine public and private universities.

The exhibition will remain open from January 21 to 23, daily from 9:00am to 7:30pm.

Besides, three separate day-long thematic seminars will be held with the participation of faculties, students, artists and researchers from various university departments on Thursday.

Joris van Bommel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bangladesh,  Shabnam Mustari, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar, Professor, Department of Oriental Art, DU, Professor AAM Kaoser Hassan, Acting Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, DU, Kabita Bose, Country Director, Plan International Bangladesh and Korvi Rakshand, Chairman, JAAGO Foundation Trust were present as special guest.

Earlier, a two-day art workshop was held on November 14–15, 2025, with the participation of 90 teachers, students, young artists, and renowned artists from nine public and private universities.

Participating institutions included Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Jahangirnagar University, Khulna University, Rajshahi University, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Dhaka Art College, Narayanganj Fine Art Institute, and Jessore SM Sultan Art College.
