The Cabinet on Monday gave the final approval to the draft of “The Bangladesh Tour Operators and Tour Guides (Registration and Operation) Bill, 2021”, making it mandatory for the tour operators and guides to get registered.
The approval came from the weekly cabinet meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhabhan’s cabinet room with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“As per the proposed law, a touring company will have to collect a license. No company will be allowed to operate tours without having registration,” said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam while briefing reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat after the meeting.
The bill was approved aiming to bring the tour operators under the legal framework for ensuring the best services and thus give a boost to the tourism sector, he said.
Besides, the Cabinet in principle approved the draft of the ‘Boilers Bill, 2021’ in order to ensure production and import of safe and quality boilers.
As per the bill, the owner of a boiler factory will be punished with maximum two years’ imprison, or Tk 2 lakh fine or both in the case of production of tampered or unregistered boilers, said the Cabinet Secretary.
