The approval came from the weekly cabinet meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhabhan’s cabinet room with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“As per the proposed law, a touring company will have to collect a license. No company will be allowed to operate tours without having registration,” said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam while briefing reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat after the meeting.

The bill was approved aiming to bring the tour operators under the legal framework for ensuring the best services and thus give a boost to the tourism sector, he said.
Besides, the Cabinet in principle approved the draft of the ‘Boilers Bill, 2021’ in order to ensure production and import of safe and quality boilers.
As per the bill, the owner of a boiler factory will be punished with maximum two years’ imprison, or Tk 2 lakh fine or both in the case of production of tampered or unregistered boilers, said the Cabinet Secretary.

A provision is there in the bill to operate mobile court to stop irregularities in boiler factories, he said.
The cabinet meeting cleared both the Bangla and English versions of the Shipbuilding Industry Development Policy-2021, aiming to flourish the sector with a policy support.
There is potential of taking the earnings from the sector to US$ 4 billion by 2025, which is now only US$ 1 billion, he said.
