Bagerhat, Sep 10 (UNB) – A fishing trawler with 12 fishermen on board capsized near Fairway Buoy of Mongla Port in Bay of Bengal after being hit by a commercial ship on Monday morning.
Fishing trawler- Swadhin-3 which came from Patharghata, sank after being hit by a commercial ship, said a press release of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
A patrolling ship of Bangladesh Navy – Turag rushed to the spot and rescued 9 fishermen from the spot while three others still remained missing.
The rescued fishermen were- Md Hanif, 40, Md Abul Kalam, 42, Md Jakir Hossain, 47, Md Sujon, 28, Md Rubel, 28, MD Musa, 22, Md Jakaria, 16, Md Kabir, 42, and Md Monir.
Three salvage ships –Turag, Megna and Nisan were working to rescue the missing fishermen.
