Two children drowned in the Pagla River at Alidanga of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Jui, 10, a fourth-grader and daughter of Ziaur Rahman and Imran Ali, 9, a first grader and son of Jubair Hossain of the area.
Shamsul Alam Shah, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station, said the incident took place at noon when the two were bathing in the river with their family members.
At one stage, the minors went missing. Although others rescued them soon, they died while being taken to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.

The bodies were handed over to family members without an autopsy.
