An unauthorised drone has been seized in the VIP area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka after detecting an illegal operation.
It was seized around 8:37pm on April 4 when it was being used to capture video footage in front of the VIP Pole Gate during the arrival of players of the SAFF Championship.
Preliminary investigation found that the drone was being operated without prior permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) in violation of existing regulations, said a press release.
According to the “Drone Registration and Operation Policy 2020”, airport areas are designated as ‘red zones’, where flying drones without special authorisation from the concerned authorities is strictly prohibited.
Officials said necessary legal action will be taken against such unauthorised activities to ensure overall security at the airport.
Authorities also urged the public to strictly follow existing rules and regulations while operating drones particularly in sensitive areas like airports.
