The 97-year-old had long been suffering from lung infection and other old-age complications. He breathed his last at People’s Hospital in city’s Khilgaon area around 1:25pm.
Alam left behind his wife, four sons, three daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
He will be buried at their family graveyard at Musapur village in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila after Esha prayers following his namaz-e-janaza.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has mourned the death of Haji Alam.
In a condolence message, Fakhrul said Haji Badiul Alam was respected by everyone in his locality. The BNP leader offered condolences and prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
