Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Monday said the Universal Pension Scheme can play a vital role in building a dignified future for the vast population currently outside the social safety net.
He also emphasized the need for active participation from all stakeholders to make the scheme a success.

“With effective coordination with field administration and increased participation, it is possible to bring a large segment of the population under a well-structured social protection framework,” he said.
The cabinet secretary said this while addressing a workshop on universal pension schemes at the meeting room of the Cabinet Division.
The National Pension Authority, in collaboration with officials from the Cabinet Division, Finance Department, and the National Pension Authority organised the workshop.
The cabinet secretary noted that widespread awareness and outreach are key to ensuring financial and social security for those still excluded from existing safety net programs.
“If this initiative reaches people from all walks of life, it will help ensure future security for those outside the current framework,” he said.
He added that the National Pension Authority, under the Finance Division, is working to make the scheme more attractive and accessible.
Workshops like this, he noted, are instrumental in generating new ideas and improving implementation strategies.
