The United States has condemned the political violence in Dhaka today.
"We call for calm and restraint on all sides and will review all violent incidents for possible visa restrictions," said US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.

The reported killing of a police officer, a political activist, and the burning of a hospital are unacceptable, he said in a statement on Saturday night.

The US also said violence against civilians, including journalists, is unacceptable.
