A woman aged around 35 was killed after being run over by a speeding unidentified vehicle in the capital’s Jatrabari area.
The deceased could not be identified yet.
Police recovered the body on Wednesday morning and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy in the afternoon.
Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Awlad Hossain said police recovered the bloodstained body from the outgoing lane of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, opposite a readymade garment factory, at around 5am after receiving information about the incident.
He said the woman might have been crossing the road at some point during the night when a speeding vehicle ran her over and fled the scene.
She died on the spot after sustaining severe injuries to her head.
