Police on Monday recovered the throat-slit body of a woman at Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram.
The deceased was identified as Asha Khatun, 50, wife of Nurul Islam Prakash Tota Mia of West Chechuria Ghonapara village of War- 9 of Bailchari union of the upazila.

Asha was murdered by miscreants in her house around 2 am on Monday, said police.
However, locals said Asha used to make cash transactions with different people of the area in exchange for interest. They suspect that the murder may have been caused because of this.

Son of the deceased's brother-in-law. Nasir Uddin said, "My aunt may have been killed because of money, gold ornaments and financial transaction.”

Kamal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banshkhali Police Station, said the body was recovered from the spot and sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
The door of the house was open. As she was home alone, no one noticed it. Various pieces of evidence used in the murder have been collected. The husband and daughter of the deceased have been brought to the police station for questioning, added the OC.
