“It is essential to ensure gender equality to attain the Planet 50-50 and the Sustainable Development Goals (by 2030) not leaving anyone behind. Women MPs can play a very important role here,” she said at an international conference joining from the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The inaugural ceremony of the 13th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament was held in the Austrian capital of Vienna, said a Parliament handout on Tuesday.
Dr Chaudhury stressed the need for enhancing the power and effectiveness of a parliament as the centre for democracy to prevent violence against women and protect their rights.
“We’ll have to remove gender disparity for making future developed and building the society as more inclusive one,” she said urging all for playing stronger role in preventing violence against women (VAW).
