Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh Nicolas Weeks on Sunday met Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqul Rahman, where women’s participation in the workforce was highlighted as a key factor for sustainable growth.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Bangladesh’s current situation and reform priorities.
Independent institutions and a strong judiciary, resilient finance and banking sectors, and aspects of the national budget were discussed as important for investment, jobs, and a smooth LDC graduation, said the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka.
Sweden has been a partner since independence - from midwifery education to cooperation today on the green transition.
Looking ahead, the Embassy said, Sweden remains a strong partner and stands ready to contribute with green energy solutions, automation, and advanced technologies to support Bangladesh’s next chapter of development.
