A worker was killed and another seriously injured in a furnace explosion at a steel factory in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj early Monday.
The accident occurred around 2am at Bikrampur Steel Mills in Maikuli area while molten iron was being handled.
The deceased was identified as Alam Hossain, 35, son of late Misir Uddin of Maskanda area in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona.
Officer in Charge of Rupganj Police Station Sabzel Hossain confirmed this.

Another worker, Barkat, suffered severe burns and was immediately admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute for treatment.
The OC said the body of the deceased has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, legal action is underway regarding the incident.
