Another young woman died with measles-like symptoms in Sylhet, raising the number of confirmed and suspected measles deaths in the Sylhet division to 158 this year.
The deceased was identified as Sumaiya, aged 18 years and eight months, daughter of Abdul Matin of Juri upazila in Moulvibazar.
She died while undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, according to a measles situation report released by the Office of the Divisional Director of Health, Sylhet, on Sunday.
Earlier, two more adolescent girls and a nurse died of the disease, according to the health authorities.
According to the report, 10 of the 158 deaths were confirmed measles cases, while 148 people died with measles symptoms.
Meanwhile, 112 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals in the division in the past 24 hours until 8:00am Sunday.
Currently, a total of 466 suspected measles patients are undergoing treatment at different government and private hospitals in Sylhet division.
According to the report, a total of 1,031 confirmed measles cases have been detected in the division since the beginning of the year.
Of them, 363 cases were reported in Sylhet, 357 in Sunamganj, 158 in Moulvibazar and 153 in Habiganj.
