World Bank country director for Bangladesh and Bhutan Abdoulaye Seck on Saturday said youths and students of Bangladesh channeled their energy and creativity in to the beautiful arts on the walls across the country.
“I think what the youths of Bangladesh have done is unique and it stands tall,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of a Wall Art Exhibition 'Paint Your Sky, Make it Yours' at Featuring Youth's Visions for Bangladesh DrikPath Bhaban.
The World Bank organised the exhibition, showcasing an inspiring collection of wall arts created by students and youths from across the country, reflecting their hopes and aspirations for a prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh.
Abdoulaye said in the very turbulent months of July and August, the streets of Bangladesh echoed its cries of justice and changes and Too many youths were killed or injured.
“Let us extend our deepest condolence for the tragic loss of lives.”
He said that young students and young Bangladeshi painted their vision of a new Bangladesh.
“The energy and creativity that eminence from these works are not in shorts of inspiring. Each piece of art is the testament to the resilient of its creators,” he said.
The World Bank country director said that young artists have dare to dream to express unto envision of better future and have used their creativity to paint their vision to new Bangladesh.
“The nation where justice prevails, where dreams are nurtured and where sky is the limit.”
He mentioned that As the world bank group we are hearing their voices, aspirations and concerns.
“We are a long standing partner of Bangladesh. As the world bank group we recognise the pivotal role that the youths played in shaping the present and the future.”
Seck said that the exhibition renews World Bank’s focus on empowerment of young people and creating opportunities for them.
“Our current partnership framework for Bangladesh stressed the importance of creating jobs for the million of young Bangladeshis entering the job market every year, Job by private sector.”
Let me tell you, he said, we are ever more determine to give it worth for Bangladesh and for Bangladeshi youths.
“Let us honour the memories of those who have sacrificed for a better tomorrow and support the dreams of those who continue to strive today for a brighter future.”
He said youths and students of Bangladesh have shown us that even in the face of adversity we can paint sky and make it ours.
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition, titled 'Paint Your Sky, Make it Yours: Future Bangladesh in the eyes of the youth.
The exhibition features vibrant wall arts painted by students and youth across the country, highlighting their vision and the issues they consider important for the future of the country.
The artworks come from 12 districts, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Chattogram, Barishal, Cumilla, Rangpur, Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Bandarban.
The exhibition is being held at DrikPath Bhaban, Panthapath in Dhaka, and will be open to the public from November 23 to November 30, 2024, from 3 to 8 pm every day.
At the opening ceremony, the Finance Adviser and the World Bank Country Director also launched a publication and a video.
