Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA) will host the exposition titled “Ceramic Expo Bangladesh-2019” at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) for the second time after 2017.
More than 120 participants with 150 brands of ceramic and allied products from 20 countries, including host Bangladesh along with 300 international delegates and 500 buyer hosts, are expected to join the fair, one of the largest ceramic exhibitions in Asia with title sponsor of AKIJ Ceramics.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the expo while Prime Minister’s Adviser for Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman will remain present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony on December 7.
BCMEA president Md Shirajul Islam Mollah and General Secretary Irfan Uddin briefed the media about the fair at a press conference at Dhaka Club on Saturday.
In the last 10 years, Mollah said Bangladesh ceramic sector witnessed 200 percent growth in production and 20 percent in investment with the earning of five crore US dollars annually by exporting to 50 countries.
The country’s ceramic industry contains Tk 8,500 crore investment with the direct and indirect employments of five lakh human resources.
The BCMEA president said Bangladesh ceramic industry is a booming sector and growth potential of both domestic and international market indicates that it may become one of the biggest foreign exchange earners for the country.
During the fair, he said, manufacturers, exporters and suppliers will have global exposure for their new products, modern technologies and reflecting the latest designs, creating new image as well adding a great value to their brand all over the world from a single platform with a provision of making spot orders.
Irfan said the demand of Bangladesh ceramic products is rising in the international arena while new markets have been created in different parts of the world.
All major Bangladeshi ceramic companies have been expanding their plants and operations with the increasing demand of ceramic and allied products both at the domestic and international markets, he added.
BCMEA Vice President Mamunur Rashid, Director Humayun Kabir, Abdul Hakim and Tanvir Ahmed were present at the press conference.
