The government has appointed Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun as the Chairman of the newly established Invest Bangladesh Authority on a one-year contractual basis.
Prior to this appointment, he served as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
According to a government notification, Ashik Chowdhury was appointed to the post for a one-year term from the date of joining under Section 4(5) of the Invest Bangladesh Act, 2026.
In addition, retired Air Vice-Marshal Md. Shaharul Huda has been appointed as a Member of Invest Bangladesh Authority with the rank of Secretary on a one-year contractual basis.
Meanwhile, Md. A. Razzak Sarkar, Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Government Employees Hospital, has been promoted to Secretary and posted as Member (Secretary) of the Invest Bangladesh Authority.
The order comes into immediate effect.
According to the notification, the Chairman and the Secretary must relinquish any professional ties, business engagements, or employment relationships with other government, semi-government, or private organizations.
Other terms and conditions of their appointments will be determined by separate agreements.
The government formed Invest Bangladesh by merging three investment bodies—BIDA, the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), and the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA).
A gazette notification regarding the merger was issued last Thursday, bringing all investment-related operations under the single purview of the new authority.
