Online food deliver platform Foodpanda is providing insurance for its entire fleet of riders from a third-party agency as a facilitator.
In a statement, Foodpanda said the riders now can opt-in for the insurance policy that assures over Tk 5 lakh entailing coverage of death, accidental death, permanent total disability, permanent partial disability, accidental injury, hospitalisation, and out-patient department service, per person per year.
From providing financial assistance to medical insurance and implementing precautionary measures to ensure health, safety, and well-being of their own, the company is doing all to act responsibly and help riders fight financial woes, Foodpanda said.
“Our riders deliver food, groceries, and meds to customers. They’re fighting the pandemic from the frontline. It’s our responsibility to not only protect them with safety measures but also protect them with insurance policies,” said Ambareen Reza, chief executive officer of Foodpanda.
In addition to giving out masks, gloves and hand sanitisers to riders, Foodpanda has taken an initiative to equip them with these insurance policies to protect their overall wellbeing, he said, describing the riders as heroes in the ongoing battle against the pandemic.
