The government has appointed Md Sirajul Islam, former executive director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, as a member of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).
He will serve as Member (Administration) of the insurance sector regulator on a three-year contractual basis, according to a notification issued by the Insurance Wing of the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance.
The appointment was made in accordance with Section 5(2) of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Act, 2010.
As per the terms of the circular, Islam must sever all professional ties and working relationships with other institutions and organizations before assuming office.
His salary, allowances, and related benefits will be determined through a formal agreement with the government.
The Financial Institutions Division stated that the order takes immediate effect in the public interest.
