British-Irish company ‘Deltaport Limited’ is going to invest US $36 million to set up a garment manufacturing industry in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ).
According to a press release, the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed an agreement with the company to this effect at the BEPZA Complex in the capital on Sunday.
In the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Member (Investment Promotion) Md. Ashraful Kabir, on behalf of BEPZA, and Junaid Iqbal Umerani, on behalf of Deltaport Limited, signed the agreement.
This foreign company will produce annually 20 million pcs of protective clothes, work wear, other garment products, PPE, hospital gowns, masks, bed sheets, curtains, etc. where 5980 Bangladeshi nationals will get employment opportunities.
The BEPZA Executive Chairman thanked Deltaport Limited for investing in Bangladesh, especially in BEPZA EZ.
He urged the investors to start the factory construction as soon as possible.
Deltaport Limited is a sister concern of Eastport Limited, a garment manufacturing company of Comilla EPZ that has been running a business since 2013.
