Trading on the country’s two bourses began on a positive note on the last working day of the week, as major indices marked a significant rise amid price gains in most shares.
During the first two hours of trading, the DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 78 points.
The Shariah-based DSES index advanced by 12 points, while the DS30 Index, which includes blue-chip stocks, rose by 33 points.
DSE rises, CSE retreats in mixed market mood
Of the issues traded till then, prices advanced for 213 companies, declined for 110 and remained unchanged for 70.
The DSE recorded a turnover of Tk 550 crore in the first two hours of the session.
Meanwhile, the broader index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) surged by 271 points during the same period.
Of the 149 issues traded on the CSE, prices increased for 80, declined for 48, and remained unchanged for 21.
The port city bourse saw transactions worth Tk 4.4 crore in the early hours of the session.
